Iranian Wrestler Taleb Nematpour Suspended after Failing Anti-Doping Test

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (June 26) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Taleb NEMATPOUR has been informed by FILA that his A and B samples from an anti-doping test have come back positive. The tests were administered by FILA at the Greco-Roman World Cup May 16 in Tehran.

The initial analytical report of Nematpour’s “A” sample by the WADA accredited laboratory in Köln, Germany initially indicated the presence of the banned anabolic steroid Trenbelone. Nematopur was notified of his rights by FILA at which point he requested an analysis of his “B” sample. The analysis of the “B” sample was concluded on June 26 with WADA confirming the presence of the prohibited substance found in the “A” sample. In accordance with the FILA anti-doping rules, Nematpour has been provisionally suspended from any wrestling activity and faces a two-year competition ban pending a final ruling by FILA.
