Doping in Handball


Handball defines it self as one of the clean sports. Still in the Anti-Doping Database we have registered 106 doping cases in this sport.

 

Most of the cases involves substances classified as Cannabinoids. In total 60 athletes has been suspended testing positive for a substance in this classification. 13 has tested positive for a steroid. France has the most cases with 34 athletes suspended, while Italy has suspended 15. Saudi Arabia has suspended seven. 28 of the athletes were banned for two years. In total 30 has been suspended for two years or more. The International Handball Federation publishes information on athletes who has been suspended for an anti-doping rule violation. The information is how ever quite old.
