The sample was collected out-of-competition prior to the Olympic Winter Games in South Korea.
In the Anti-Doping Database we have 17 registered anti-doping rule violations related to acetalozamide. Out of the 17, six has been suspended for two years, six for one year, two for six months and one for 18 months. Two athletes has been given a public warning for using the substance.
Track and Field is the sport with the most cases involving this substance with five. Cycling comes in second with only three cases.
Russia is the country with the most cases (6), while India and Cuba both have 2.
Speed Skating is a sport with few doping cases. Since we started registering anti-doping rule violations, we have only registered 24 athletes related to the sport.
Japan has also very few registered suspended athletes. We have only registered 17 athletes who has been suspended for an anti-doping rule violation.
